The $1 billion V&A development has attracted buyers from all over Australia who are searching for the ultimate sea change, with interstate purchasers fuelling the $245 million in sales to date.
“The project has seen remarkable interest from the interstate market. 80% of our sales have come from interstate buyers who are seeking a slice of the ultimate coastal dream,” David Higgins, Residential director of Colliers Gold Coast, says.
“Many buyers have been enticed by the project’s proximity to key lifestyle amenities and the ground floor activation, which is set to reinvigorate the heart of Broadbeach with a world-class retail and dining precinct.”
The 399 beachside apartments are spread over two towers, Victoria and Albert. Albert’s launch several weeks ago has sparked massive interest from buyers in Sydney and Melbourne.
“The response since Albert’s launch has been incredible. Southern buyers looking for their new home in the heart of the city’s lifestyle mecca have jumped at the opportunity to secure a V&A home,” David says.
“With demolition now underway, we are looking forward to soon having a collection of high- quality homes to showcase for our new residents.”
Queensland’s popularity outstrips other Australian states
Following the strict lockdowns of the southern states, Queensland maintained its heightened popularity during 2021, with net interstate migration at its highest since 1982.
According to Knight Frank data on population trends in 2021, Queensland received the highest intake from interstate compared with other states and territories, recording a 50,162 net gain.
Interestingly, this gain was represented broadly across age ranges, with about 17% of net inflows under 10 years of age, and a similar amount between 30-39 years of age. Over 60s, on the other hand, represented just 18% of the total migration, showing that Queensland is no longer just a retirement destination. Lifestyle, affordability and job opportunities – along with the year-round sunshine – are attracting sea-changers in droves who want to create a life for themselves and their family in Queensland.
