According to Knight Frank data on population trends in 2021, Queensland received the highest intake from interstate compared with other states and territories, recording a 50,162 net gain.
Interestingly, this gain was represented broadly across age ranges, with about 17% of net inflows under 10 years of age, and a similar amount between 30-39 years of age. Over 60s, on the other hand, represented just 18% of the total migration, showing that Queensland is no longer just a retirement destination.
